April

Long time since my last post, once again… i’ve been busy studying and hardly found the time to process and edit the photos was taking, let alone writing a blog post. But since i recently had to sent in my fuji x100 for repair (stupid aperture bug…) i thought it might be the right time to share with you my favorite shots from April and May!

I absolutely love the picture above. I don’t usually get this close to people when shooting street. Maybe i should more often… This one is also my submission to SPNP #17.

Same event as the first shot, just a few minutes later. I liked how the dog is the only one paying attention at me and not watching the procession.

The word in the upper right says “game”. There’s a casino in the building.

He wasn’t too happy i took his picture…

My girlfriend came down with a pretty bad flu during some short holidays, so we went to a hospital since all the doctor’s practices were closed.  We waited for an hour just to get some prescription…

I liked the simple composition here… Took this picture on my way home after a pretty disappointing afternoon (photographically). Well sometimes they come when you least expect them! (also my submission to SPNP #15)

Cigarette break in the shade…

I always enjoy taking pictures in train stations. I think it’s the mix of people waiting and others rushing around, trying to catch their train.

Not quite sure what that tent in the back was about, i just liked the scene with all those umbrellas.

There were so many tourists in town those last few weeks. Which is great since nobody cares about you taking pictures, you’re just another guy with a camera…

Hope you liked some of the pictures, thanks for reading this. Think i’m gonna shoot a few rolls of film over the next weeks till i get back my x100, who knows…

Duesseldorf // Cologne

Just a quick selection of shots i took during the last few weeks. I’ve been very busy with my internship, that’s why i never found the time to write a new blog post. I still accumulated many photos since i tried to always bring my camera…

Around mid-March my girlfriend visited me and we went to Cologne. Read the rest of this page »

Ambiguity

I hate shooting with film cameras. I also love it.

A whole new way…

So, over the last days and weeks i’ve been shooting a lot with two old and cheap film rangefinder cameras i bought off ebay. The pictures in this post are from the Yashica 35 GT, a wonderful camera.

What i love most about this camera is that i take it literally everywhere i go since it is relatively small. It is still quite i bit larger than the olympus 35 rc though. Read the rest of this page »

Rainy Days

Long time since my last post. Mostly because i shot only film within the last weeks and haven’t scanned all of the negatives yet. Taking pictures with a film rangefinder camera is a completely different experience and i am still getting used to it… I’ll post those shots next week, for now just some random pictures i took over the last days, nothing special really.

It rained at lot recently, so going out to take some pictures was a real pain most of the times. Read the rest of this page »

Blossoms

Something different this time… I’ve been a bit frustrated with my street photography lately, none of the shots i took seemed worth sharing to me. Anyway, in order to get inspired i decided to forget about people for a change and to make a series on those bald and sere plants which can be seen all over town at this time of the year. It’s been a joy taking those pictures and i can only advise anyone who feels photographically uninspired to just go out and shoot something completely different than usual. I also did not process the raw files with my b/w preset but decided to leave them in color, although i strongly desaturated them and applied some split toning. …well, here are the results.

All shots were taken with a Canon EOS 500D at 50mm, f2.8

Fundamentals

There is something really enjoyable about visiting a new city for the first time. I took these pictures when me and my girlfriend went to Leipzig a few weeks ago. I’ve never been there before and the picture below was actually the first shot i took that day.

An evening walk

After several weeks of exam preparation in which i spent my time mainly in front of my computer screen i really enjoyed those last couple of days. It felt good having time for myself again, being able to take some shots without worrying about my learning schedule.

The Fair

Hi everyone, my name is tobias, i’m a 25-year-old student and amateur photographer. this is my first blog-post :) i am going to see where this leads, just wanted to try an alternative to exclusively posting my photos on flickr. plus i like the idea of being able to publish my photos in a more individual and essayistic  way. anyhow, i’d be thankful to hear any kind of feedback!
